This is one of my favourite pieces. But it's also the one that took me by far the longest time to get the right materials. It was so hard to get the colours I imagined. Believe me or not, I have searched three years to get those great beads: high-quality japanese delica beads. I have not worked with them before, but they instantly convinced me. The quality of these beads is simply outstanding. So, to all the beaders out there: Try them out, they are worth their money!
The colour concept of the bird is fully done by me, I only used some guidelines for the body itself. I tried to make it look like a flame, as a phoenix always goes up in flames before it is reborn from the ashes. The branch it is sitting on is also done by me without guidlines.
Woa my first DD! Never would have thought of that!! So many many thanks to =Soulia for suggesting and `UnicornReality for featuring!!
Guidelines out of: Torsten Becker, Fantasy-Perlentiere (Motive aus Mythologie und Fantasy), Frechverlag
I have that phoenix from that book, differently coloured too. So this piece doesn't really overly impress me in matters of originality and technique. I'm quite sorry, to be so stern over it.
The way you present it makes this piece, though. With the dark background and the beads you chose for the body, the phoenix shines and looks absolutely fantastic. And the various angles show all the beauty of this piece.
In terms of presentation and as it's accurately done, I don't see anything to be improved there. But like I said before, it would be much more impressive, if you designed an own concept for the body.
